What I Learned From Going 30 days (almost) Alcohol Free


It’s responsible for some of the best and some of the worst memories in my life. It’s brought me immense joy and created life altering pain. Sometimes I use it to help me celebrate some of lifes most important moments and sometimes it has helped me forget the worst.

Some of my best ideas come to me while drunk. Well, they seemed great at the time.

Alcohol can bring people together and can rip families apart. Its a part of culture, of religious ceremony, a rite of passage, and a coming of age.

It can be used for both good and evil. It can be beneficial for health and a toxic poison.

Alcohol has given me courage and has made me feel massive shamed.

Alcohol. Moderation really is key.

There is something about a margarita that feels both casual and elevated at the same time. Assuming it is not made with some corn syrup laden pre mix (ew- gross), it is actually quite the artisnal libation often made with fresh ingredients including herbs, fruit, and vegetables. Just the other night I went out to Tru Foods Kitchen in Santa Monica and had a ginger margarita that was so refreshingly sweet, and tangy that it sizzled and popped with every sip. Rest assured, I have every intention of recreating it for the blog, so stay tuned for that. Until then- this margarita is the drink I made to round out my Cinco de Mayo week on the blog (yes week, because tacos, gucamole and margaritas deserve to be celebrated for at least week) and purposely posted it on a Friday, to celebrate the end of a really good week that was the product of a function called: communication.
