What is CBD and Should You Be Using It?

CANNA WHAT?

You’ve likely heard of cannabinoid oil over the last couple of years as Maraijuana and CBD specifically have been acknowledged for its medical applications by mainstream sources. If you aren’t familiar then I am so excited for you to read this but first let me start out by saying it is not the same thing as pot or weed and this post isn’t about getting high. That’s not really my thing.

Much of the scientific and clinical research that is sponsored by the US government downplays CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including arthritisdiabetesalcoholismMSchronic painschizophreniaPTSDdepressionantibiotic-resistant infectionsepilepsy, and other neurological disorders. This is part of the corruption and control by large pharmaceutical companies in this country that want to keep us sick and on their drugs

So why am I so into it?

Each day we are exposed to hundreds of toxins, known as free radicals.

Exposure comes from the polluted air we breath, the food and beverages we consume, and the products we use on our body or around the house. No matter how healthy you are these toxins contribute to aging, both mentally and physically, by constantly damaging your cells and neurons.

This increases your susceptability to premature aging, stress, and disease.

Cannabinoids, like CBD, are naturally occuring antioxidants and nueroprotectants found in industrial hemp aka pot. Yes- there are antioxidants in that stuff and they are very beneficial for our bodies.

How To Boost Your Mood and Deal with Anxiety Naturally

When it comes to stress, anxiety, depression and overall mood one of the often overlooked impacts is the food we eat (or don’t eat for that matter).

Food and various nutrients are vital for the body and mind to feel happy, clam and clear. At the same time, there are also foods that can causes stress by spiking cortisol, leave us irritable from a sugar crash or a difficiency in an amino acid or vitamin inhibiting our bodies ability to produce feel good hormones like serotonin and dopamine.

Everyone wants to wake up feeling positive and ready to take on the day regardless of their circumstances or be able to stay calm in a less than ideal situation. Getting up in the morning and feeling sad without a “good reason” to feel sad is not the most empowering way to start your day.

I do believe that everyone is different and their circumstances are not the same nor is their unique biochemistry.  However, I firmly believe that you can add, remove or adjust the foods you are eating to increase the amount of positive vibes that radiate from within you. i’ve experienced it myself. In essence, the foods you eat can impact your personality and outlook on life so to speak.

Science has recently discovered that we are only 10% human cells and the rest is microbiota or tiny bacteria. Much of which reside in our gut where most of our serotonin is produced. As Dr. Grundy puts it from his interview on The School Of Greatness podcast, these “bacteria send text messages to our brain” effecting our actions, decision making and homornes that can impact cravings and mood.  In addition to eating a diet that is nutritionally sound providing proper vitamins and minerals, “our bacteria control our behavior” so that means that the food we feed those little guys really matters as well.

Over the last 7 or so years, but specifically the last two I’ve made adjustments to the foods I’ve eaten and have experienced a change in my mood  and below are some of the things I’ve learned and experienced that have left me feeling positive and with a sense of endles possibility for my life.

*NOTE: Keep in mind that this is my personal experience and I am not a doctor so be sure to talk with your doctor before trying anything out for yourself.

Alkalizing vs Acidic Foods and Why A Balanced pH is Key to Good Health

alkaline vs acidic diets health wellness

Last week I posted a photo on instagram talking about alkaline vs. acidic foods that garnered a positive response from many of you. I wanted to discuss the imporance in more detail and answer some questions. Its a fun topic in my opinion and SO IMPORTANT! Lets just get to it, ok?

What does pH mean?

The term pH refers to the relative proportions of acidity and alkalinity and stands for potantial hydrogen. Every living system on earth has a pH: your hair, ocean water, the air. Even Draino and lighter fluid has a pH.

Maintaining a proper pH inside our bodies is one of the necessities for good health. When we have a balanced pH we lose weight easily (assming you have weight to lose), we have clearer skin and are less likely to get sick or suffer from chronic illness.

Essentially a balanced pH = healthy af.

Health and an Imbalanaced pH

Addressing an over acidic system is fundamental to bringing the body back to  health. So what can happen if you are overly acidic which many Americans are?

Acidic enviorments are breeding grounds for pathogens that get us sick.

The ratio of celluar pH determines whether bad bacteria and pathogens incuabte or reamin dormant -basically if disease spreads or not. When tissues and organs are loaded down with acidity then the body can’t properly distribute oxygen to cells- this leads to mucus building up in lungs causing infections and viruses. The main forms of arthritis relate to a pH imbalance and accumalation of acid in the joints.

Acidity weakens the nervous system making it harder to manage stress and day to day life.

If you are constantly out of breath you might be suffering from acidosis which means the body is having trouble delivering oxygen to the cells because the blood is too acidc.

Acidic conditions in the body are also associated with cataracts,  gout, migraines, constipation, cancer, acne, skin rashes, stroke, allergies, diabetes, obesity and more. Its a laundry list people.
